Splice is a powerful tool for recording live audio content and creating podcast episodes. However, it is important to be aware of the audio formats supported by Splice.

Audio Codec

Splice supports MP3 encoded audio sources. We highly recommend using the MP3 audio format on your Ingests to ensure compatibility with Splice.

Bitrate and Sample Rate

While a specific bitrate and sample rate are not mandatory, we recommend using a 128 kbps bitrate and 44.1 kHz sample rate for optimal results. These settings can provide a good balance between audio quality and file size.

Unsupported Formats

Splice currently does not support variations of AAC encoding such as AAC-LC, HE-AAC v1, and HE-AAC v2.

Recording Specifications

Splice creates each recording using the same specifications as the live stream source. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the live stream source meets the recommended settings to avoid any issues. Otherwise, you could end up having issues with the resulting recording.
