Podcaster’s Playlist feature helps customers better manage their content by enabling the creation of playlists based on episode tags and keywords.
In this article we are going to cover:
Creating a playlist
- Login to your SoundStack Podcaster account.
- From the left side menu, navigate to Content, then left-click on the Add Show button and select Create Playlist from the drop-down menu.
- Insert a Name, Show type, Subtitle, and Description for your Playlist. The Name, Show type, and Description are required to move forward.
- If you are required to insert copyright information, please do not include the © symbol in the tag because this will automatically be displayed on iTunes.
- Categories, Metadata and Cover Art are also mandatory fields. You can select up to three categories that best reflect the content of your show. If available, you can also define a subcategory. Although you can specify more than one category and subcategory in your RSS feed, Apple Podcasts only recognizes the first category and subcategory.
The Release Style can be Episodic or Serial. You can select episodic for stand-alone episodes or when you want your episodes displayed and recommended in descending chronological order. You can opt for serial when you would like your episodes displayed and recommended in ascending chronological order.Note: A playlist can be assigned to a Group and publisher. The name of the Group and publisher can be used to filter the content and is displayed on the playlist cover art.
- The size for the Cover Art is a square with a minimum of 1400x1400px and a maximum of 3000x3000px. Once you have an image that meets these requirements, simply drag and drop it into this area in order to upload it for this show.
Note: Images, including cover art may be cached for up to one hour.
Adding playlist rules
To add new rules, click on that specific playlist and navigate to the Rules tab:
You can opt for automatically adding matching episodes and matching all the rules.
Rule Type can be set to Tag contains or Name contains. The Tag contains allows you to add episodes to the playlist that has a specific tag and Name contains allows you to add episodes to the playlist that contains specific words in their names.
You can add or remove as many rules as you desire, just make sure that you are saving the changes.
Note: To add episodes from a show into a playlist, you have to enable this option from the show’s Settings
Adding tags at the show level
Click on a specific show, navigate to the Edit tab, and scroll down to the Content tags for episodes.
Here, you have the option to add tags at the show level which will apply them to all the current and future episodes. Additionally, eliminating tags at the show level will result in the removal of these tags from both existing and forthcoming episodes.
The tags added or removed at the show level will not impact the tags on already uploaded episodes. Also, the tags removed and added from the episode level will not affect the tags at the show level. All the tags (for both show and episode level ones) will be visible under episodes.
This concludes our introductory tutorial on using Podcaster Playlists.
