We aim to provide tools that empower our clients to manage many aspects of their streams. Managing the duration of listener sessions is an important capability. Here's how it works on SoundStack.
You can control the maximum length of listener sessions. The session limit setting specified under each Egress allows you to limit how long a listener can stay connected to your stream. For example, if you have a session duration of 4 hours selected, then after 4 hours, the user will be disconnected. If a listener wants to continue listening after they hit the limit, they simply need to reconnect to the stream. This helps to ensure that the listener is actively listening and not just leaving your stream open.
In order to modify this parameter, please follow the steps below:
- From the left side menu, navigate to Egresses.
- Click on the stream for which you would like to modify the listening session duration.
- Scroll down until you see the Listening Restrictions section.
- Select the desired session limit from the drop list then press the Save button.
Note: The duration for each user session is determined when that specific session starts. Any changes made to the session length restrictions will only affect future sessions started after the change went into effect. Preexisting sessions will retain the duration restrictions they were given at streaming start.
